1 Corinthians 8:1

ASV: Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.

DARBY: But concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know, (for we all have knowledge: knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

DRA: Now concerning those things that are sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up; but charity edifieth.

1 Corinthians 8:2

ASV: If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know;

DARBY: If any one think he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know [it].

ASV: Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is [anything] in the world, and that there is no God but one.

DRA: But as for the meats that are sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.

ASV: For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;

ASV: Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as [of] a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

DARBY: But knowledge [is] not in all: but some, with conscience of the idol, until now eat as of a thing sacrificed to idols; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

DRA: But there is not knowledge in every one. For some until this present, with conscience of the idol: eat as a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

1 Corinthians 8:8

ASV: But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.

DARBY: But meat does not commend us to God; neither if we should not eat do we come short; nor if we should eat have we an advantage.

DRA: But meat doth not commend us to God. For neither, if we eat, shall we have the more; nor, if we eat not, shall we have the less.

ASV: But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak.

DARBY: But see lest anywise this your right [to eat] itself be a stumbling-block to the weak.

DRA: But take heed lest perhaps this your liberty become a stumblingblock to the weak.

KJV: But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

1 Corinthians 8:10

ASV: For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol`s temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

DARBY: For if any one see thee, who hast knowledge, sitting at table in an idol-house, shall not his conscience, he being weak, be emboldened to eat the things sacrificed to the idol?

DRA: For if a man see him that hath knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not his conscience, being weak, be emboldened to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols ?

KJV: For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

1 Corinthians 8:11

ASV: For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

DARBY: and the weak [one], the brother for whose sake Christ died, will perish through thy knowledge.

DRA: And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ hath died ?

KJV: And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

1 Corinthians 8:12

ASV: And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ.

DARBY: Now, thus sinning against the brethren, and wounding their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

DRA: Now when you sin thus against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

KJV: But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

1 Corinthians 8:13

ASV: Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.

DARBY: Wherefore if meat be a fall-trap to my brother, I will eat no flesh for ever, that I may not be a fall-trap to my brother.

DRA: Wherefore, if meat scandalize my brother, I will never eat flesh, lest I should scandalize my brother.

KJV: Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
