2 Corinthians 9:1

ASV: For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

2 Corinthians 9:2

ASV: for I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia hath been prepared for a year past; and your zeal hath stirred up very many of them.

DARBY: For I know your readiness, which I boast of as respects you to Macedonians, that Achaia is prepared since a year ago, and the zeal [reported] of you has stimulated the mass [of the brethren].

DRA: For I know your forward mind: for which I boast of you to the Macedonians. That Achaia also is ready from the year past, and your emulation hath provoked very many.

KJV: For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.

2 Corinthians 9:3

ASV: But I have sent the brethren, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect; that, even as I said, ye may be prepared:

DARBY: But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made void in this respect, in order that, as I have said, ye may be prepared;

DRA: Now I have sent the brethren, that the thing which we boast of concerning you, be not made void in this behalf, that (as I have said) you may be ready:

2 Corinthians 9:4

ASV: lest by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be put to shame in this confidence.

DARBY: lest haply, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, *we*, that we say not *ye*, may be put to shame in this confidence.

DRA: Lest, when the Macedonians shall come with me, and find you unprepared, we (not to say ye) should be ashamed in this matter.

KJV: Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

2 Corinthians 9:5

ASV: I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised bounty, that the same might be ready as a matter of bounty, and not of extortion.

DARBY: I thought it necessary therefore to beg the brethren that they would come to you, and complete beforehand your fore-announced blessing, that this may be ready thus as blessing, and not as got out of you.

DRA: Therefore I thought it necessary to desire the brethren that they would go to you before, and prepare this blessing before promised, to be ready, so as a blessing, not as covetousness.

KJV: Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

2 Corinthians 9:6

ASV: But this [I say,] He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

DARBY: But this [is true], he that sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that sows in [the spirit of] blessing shall reap also in blessing:

DRA: Now this I say: He who soweth sparingly, shall also reap sparingly: and he who soweth in blessings, shall also reap blessings.

KJV: But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

2 Corinthians 9:7

ASV: [Let] each man [do] according as he hath purposed in his heart: not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

DARBY: each according as he is purposed in his heart; not grievingly, or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

DRA: Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

KJV: Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:8

ASV: And God is able to make all grace abound unto you; that ye, having always all sufficiency in everything, may abound unto every good work:

DARBY: But God is able to make every gracious gift abound towards you, that, having in every way always all-sufficiency, ye may abound to every good work:

2 Corinthians 9:9

ASV: as it is written, He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the poor; His righteousness abideth for ever.

DARBY: according as it is written, He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his righteousness remains for ever.

DRA: As it is written: He hath dispersed abroad, he hath given to the poor: his justice remaineth for ever.

2 Corinthians 9:10

ASV: And he that supplieth seed to the sower and bread for food, shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness:

DARBY: Now he that supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating shall supply and make abundant your sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness:

DRA: And he that ministereth seed to the sower, will both give you bread to eat, and will multiply your seed, and increase the growth of the fruits of your justice:

2 Corinthians 9:11

ASV: ye being enriched in everything unto all liberality, which worketh through us thanksgiving to God.

DARBY: enriched in every way unto all free-hearted liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.

DRA: That being enriched in all things, you may abound unto all simplicity, which worketh through us thanksgiving to God.

KJV: Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

2 Corinthians 9:12

ASV: For the ministration of this service not only filleth up the measure of the wants of the saints, but aboundeth also through many thanksgivings unto God;

DARBY: Because the ministration of this service is not only filling up the measure of what is lacking to the saints, but also abounding by many thanksgivings to God;

DRA: Because the administration of this office doth not only supply the want of the saints, but aboundeth also by many thanksgivings in the Lord,

2 Corinthians 9:13

ASV: seeing that through the proving [of you] by this ministration they glorify God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of [your] contribution unto them and unto all;

DARBY: they glorifying God through the proof of this ministration, by reason of your subjection, by profession, to the glad tidings of the Christ, and your free-hearted liberality in communicating towards them and towards all;

DRA: By the proof of this ministry, glorifying God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ, and for the simplicity of your communicating unto them, and unto all.

KJV: Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

ASV: while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, long after you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.
