Amos 2:1

ASV: Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

DARBY: Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

DRA: Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Moab, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath burnt the bones of the king of Edom even to ashes.

Amos 2:2

ASV: but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;

ASV: and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith Jehovah.

ASV: Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk:

DARBY: Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because they have despised the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes; and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers walked.

DRA: Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Juda, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath cast away the law of the Lord, and hath not kept his commandments: for their idols have caused them to err, after which their fathers have walked.

ASV: but I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

ASV: they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the [same] maiden, to profane my holy name:

DRA: They bruise the heads of the poor upon the dust of the earth, and turn aside the way of the humble: and the son and his father have gone to the same young woman, to profane my holy name.

Amos 2:8

ASV: and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.

DARBY: And they lay [themselves] down by every altar upon clothes taken in pledge, and they drink [in] the house of their God the wine of the condemned.

DRA: And they sat down upon garments laid to pledge by every altar: and drank the wine of the condemned in the house of their God.

Amos 2:9

ASV: Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

DARBY: But I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was as the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; but I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

Amos 2:10

ASV: Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

DRA: It is I that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and I led you forty years through the wilderness, that you might possess the land of the Amorrhite.

Amos 2:11

ASV: And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah.

ASV: But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

ASV: Behold, I will press [you] in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves.

Amos 2:14

ASV: And flight shall perish from the swift; and the strong shall not strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;

DARBY: And flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver his soul.

DRA: And flight shall perish from the swift, and the valiant shall not possess his strength, neither shall the strong save his life.

ASV: neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver [himself]; neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself;

ASV: and he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith Jehovah.

DRA: And the stout of heart among the valiant shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.
