Job 13:1

AMP: [Job continued:] “Behold, my eye has seen all this,My ear has heard and understood it.

ASV: Lo, mine eye hath seen all [this], Mine ear hath heard and understood it.

BSB: “Indeed, my eyes have seen all this;my ears have heard and understood.

Job 13:2

AMP: “What you know I also know;I am not inferior to you.

Job 13:3

AMP: ¶“But I wish to speak to the Almighty,And I desire to argue with God.

DARBY: But I will speak to the Almighty, and will find pleasure in reasoning with God;

Job 13:4

AMP: “But you smear me with lies [you defame my character most untruthfully];You are all worthless physicians and have no remedy to offer.

ASV: But ye are forgers of lies; Ye are all physicians of no value.

BSB: You, however, smear with lies;you are all worthless physicians.

DARBY: For ye indeed are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

DRA: Having first shewn that you are forgers of lies, and maintainers of perverse opinions.

Job 13:5

AMP: “Oh, that you would be completely silent,And that silence would be your wisdom!

ASV: Oh that ye would altogether hold your peace! And it would be your wisdom.

AMP: “Please hear my argumentAnd listen to the pleadings of my lips.

ASV: Hear now my reasoning, And hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

Job 13:7

AMP: “Will you speak what is unjust for God,And speak what is deceitful for Him?

ASV: Will ye speak unrighteously for God, And talk deceitfully for him?

BSB: Will you speak wickedly on God’s behalfor speak deceitfully for Him?

DARBY: Will ye speak unrighteously for God? and for him speak deceit?

DRA: Hath God any need of your lie, that you should speak deceitfully for him?

Job 13:8

AMP: “Will you show partiality for Him [and be unjust to me so that you may gain favor with Him]?Will you contend and plead for God?

ASV: Will ye show partiality to him? Will ye contend for God?

BSB: Would you show Him partialityor argue in His defense?

DARBY: Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

DRA: Do you accept his person, and do you endeavour to judge for God?

Job 13:9

AMP: “Will it be well for you when He investigates you [and your tactics against me]?Or will you deceive Him as one deceives a man?

ASV: Is it good that he should search you out? Or as one deceiveth a man, will ye deceive him?

BSB: Would it be well when He examined you?Could you deceive Him as you would deceive a man?

DARBY: Will it be well if he should search you out? or as one mocketh at a man, will ye mock at him?

DRA: Or shall it please him, from whom nothing can be concealed ? or shall he be deceived as a man, with your deceitful dealings ?

Job 13:10

AMP: “He will surely reprimand youIf you secretly show partiality.

ASV: He will surely reprove you If ye do secretly show partiality.

BSB: Surely He would rebuke youif you secretly showed partiality.

DARBY: He will certainly reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

DRA: He shall reprove you, because in secret you accept his person.

Job 13:11

AMP: “Will not His majesty terrify you,And will not the dread of Him fall upon you?

ASV: Shall not his majesty make you afraid, And his dread fall upon you?

BSB: Would His majesty not terrify you?Would the dread of Him not fall upon you?

DARBY: Shall not his excellency terrify you? and his dread fall upon you?

DRA: As soon as he shall move himself, he shall trouble you: and his dread shall fall upon you.

Job 13:12

AMP: “Your memorable sayings are [worthless, merely] proverbs of ashes;Your defenses are defenses of [crumbling] clay.

ASV: Your memorable sayings are proverbs of ashes, Your defences are defences of clay.

Job 13:15

AMP: “Even though He kills me;I will hope in Him.Nevertheless, I will argue my ways to His face.

ASV: Behold, he will slay me; I have no hope: Nevertheless I will maintain my ways before him.

BSB: Though He slay me, I will hope in Him.I will still defend my ways to His face.

DARBY: Behold, if he slay me, yet would I trust in him; but I will defend mine own ways before him.

AMP: “This also will be my salvation,For a godless man may not come before Him.
