Job 16:2

AMP: “I have heard many such things;Wearisome and miserable comforters are you all.

ASV: I have heard many such things: Miserable comforters are ye all.

BSB: “I have heard many things like these;miserable comforters are you all.

DARBY: I have heard many such things: grievous comforters are ye all.

DRA: I have often heard such things as these: you are all troublesome comforters.

Job 16:3

AMP: “Is there no end to [your futile] words of wind?Or what plagues you [so much] that you [so boldly] answer [me like this]?

ASV: Shall vain words have an end? Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest?

BSB: Is there no end to your long-winded speeches?What provokes you to continue testifying?

DARBY: Shall words of wind have an end? or what provoketh thee that thou answerest?

DRA: Shall windy words have no end? or is it any trouble to thee to speak?

Job 16:4

AMP: “I also could speak like you,If you were in my place;I could compose and join words together against youAnd shake my head at you.

ASV: I also could speak as ye do; If your soul were in my soul`s stead, I could join words together against you, And shake my head at you.

BSB: I could also speak like youif you were in my place;I could heap up words against youand shake my head at you.

Job 16:5

AMP: “[But instead] I could strengthen and encourage you with [the words of] my mouth,And the consolation and solace of my lips would soothe your suffering and lessen your anguish.

BSB: But I would encourage you with my mouth,and the consolation of my lips would bring relief.

Job 16:6

AMP: ¶“If I speak [to you miserable comforters], my pain is not relieved;And if I refrain [from speaking], what [pain or anguish] leaves me?

ASV: Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged; And though I forbear, what am I eased?

BSB: Even if I speak, my pain is not relieved,and if I hold back, how will it go away?

Job 16:7

Job 16:8

AMP: “You have taken a firm hold on me and have shriveled me up,It has become a witness [against me];And my leanness [and infirmity] rises up [as evidence] against me,It testifies to my face [about my guilt].

Job 16:9

AMP: “His wrath has torn me and hunted me down,He has gnashed at me with his teeth;My adversary sharpens His gaze and glares [with piercing eyes] at me.

ASV: He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
