Job 17:1

ASV: My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, The grave is [ready] for me.

DARBY: My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are mine.

DRA: My spirit shall be wasted, my days shall be shortened, and only the grave remaineth for me.

KJV: My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.

Job 17:2

ASV: Surely there are mockers with me, And mine eye dwelleth upon their provocation.

DARBY: Are there not mockers around me? and doth [not] mine eye abide in their provocation?

DRA: I have not sinned, and my eye abideth in bitterness.

KJV: Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

Job 17:3

ASV: Give now a pledge, be surety for me with thyself; Who is there that will strike hands with me?

DARBY: Lay down now [a pledge], be thou surety for me with thyself: who is he that striketh hands with me?

DRA: Deliver me O Lord, and set me beside thee, and let any man's hand fight against me.

KJV: Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

Job 17:4

ASV: For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: Therefore shalt thou not exalt [them].

DARBY: For thou hast hidden their heart from understanding; therefore thou wilt not exalt [them].

DRA: Thou hast set their heart far from understanding, therefore they shall not be exalted.

Job 17:5

ASV: He that denounceth his friends for a prey, Even the eyes of his children shall fail.

DARBY: He that betrayeth friends for a prey even the eyes of his children shall fail.

DRA: He promiseth a prey to his companions, and the eyes of his children shall fail.

KJV: He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

Job 17:6

ASV: But he hath made me a byword of the people; And they spit in my face.

DARBY: And he hath made me a proverb of the peoples; and I am become one to be spit on in the face.

DRA: He hath made me as it were a byword of the people, and I am an example before them.

Job 17:7

ASV: Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, And all my members are as a shadow.

DRA: My eye is dim through indignation, and my limbs are brought as it were to nothing.

Job 17:8

ASV: Upright men shall be astonished at this, And the innocent shall stir up himself against the godless.

DARBY: Upright men [shall be] astonished at this, and the innocent shall be stirred up against the ungodly;

DRA: The just shall be astonished at this, and the innocent shall be raised up against the hypocrite.

Job 17:9

ASV: Yet shall the righteous hold on his way, And he that hath clean hands shall wax stronger and stronger.

DARBY: But the righteous shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall increase in strength.

DRA: And the just man shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

KJV: The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Job 17:10

ASV: But as for you all, come on now again; And I shall not find a wise man among you.

DARBY: But as for you all, pray come on again; and I shall not find one wise man among you.

DRA: Wherefore be you all converted, and come, and I shall not find among you any wise man.

ASV: My days are past, my purposes are broken off, Even the thoughts of my heart.

Job 17:12

ASV: They change the night into day: The light, [say they], is near unto the darkness.

DARBY: They change the night into day; the light [they imagine] near in presence of the darkness.

DRA: They have turned night into day, and after darkness I hope for light again.

Job 17:13

ASV: If I look for Sheol as my house; If I have spread my couch in the darkness;

DRA: If I wait hell is my house, and I have made my bed in darkness.

Job 17:14

ASV: If I have said to corruption, Thou art my father; To the worm, [Thou art] my mother, and my sister;

DRA: If I have said to rottenness: Thou art my father; to worms, my mother and my sister.

Job 17:15

ASV: Where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who shall see it?

DARBY: And where is then my hope? yea, my hope, who shall see it?

DRA: Where is now then my expectation, and who considereth my patience?

Job 17:16

ASV: It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, When once there is rest in the dust.

DARBY: It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, when [our] rest shall be together in the dust.

DRA: All that I have shall go down into the deepest pit: thinkest thou that there at least I shall have rest?

KJV: They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
