Job 37:1

ASV: Yea, at this my heart trembleth, And is moved out of its place.

DARBY: Aye, my heart trembleth at this also, and leapeth up out of its place:

DRA: At this my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.

Job 37:2

ASV: Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice, And the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

DARBY: Hear attentively the roar of his voice, and the murmur going forth from his mouth.

Job 37:3

ASV: He sendeth it forth under the whole heaven, And his lightening unto the ends of the earth.

Job 37:4

ASV: After it a voice roareth; He thundereth with the voice of his majesty; And he restraineth not [the lightnings] when his voice is heard.

DARBY: After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency, and holdeth not back the flashes when his voice is heard.

DRA: After it a noise shall roar, he shall thunder with the voice of his majesty, and shall not be found out, when his voice shall be heard.

Job 37:5

ASV: God thundereth marvellously with his voice; Great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

Job 37:6

ASV: For he saith to the snow, Fall thou on the earth; Likewise to the shower of rain, And to the showers of his mighty rain.

DARBY: For he saith to the snow, Fall on the earth! and to the pouring rain, even the pouring rains of his might.

DRA: He commandeth the snow to go down upon the earth, and the winter rain, and the shower of his strength.

Job 37:7

ASV: He sealeth up the hand of every man, That all men whom he hath made may know [it].

ASV: Then the beasts go into coverts, And remain in their dens.

ASV: Out of the chamber [of the south] cometh the storm, And cold out of the north.

Job 37:10

ASV: By the breath of God ice is given; And the breadth of the waters is straitened.

Job 37:11

ASV: Yea, he ladeth the thick cloud with moisture; He spreadeth abroad the cloud of his lightning:

Job 37:12

ASV: And it is turned round about by his guidance, That they may do whatsoever he commandeth them Upon the face of the habitable world,

DARBY: And they are turned every way by his guidance, that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the circuit of the earth,

DRA: Which go round about, whithersoever the will of him that governeth them shall lead them, to whatsoever he shall command them upon the face of the whole earth :

KJV: And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.

Job 37:13

ASV: Whether it be for correction, or for his land, Or for lovingkindness, that he cause it to come.

DARBY: Whether he cause it to come as a rod, or for his land, or in mercy.

DRA: Whether in one tribe, or in his own land, or in what place soever of his mercy he shall command them to be found.

ASV: Hearken unto this, O Job: Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

Job 37:15

ASV: Dost thou know how God layeth [his charge] upon them, And causeth the lightning of his cloud to shine?

DARBY: Dost thou know how God hath disposed them, and how he causeth the lightning of his cloud to flash?

DRA: Dost thou know when God commanded the rains, to shew his light of his clouds?

KJV: Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?

Job 37:16

ASV: Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, The wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?

DARBY: Dost thou know about the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him that is perfect in knowledge?

DRA: Knowest thou the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect knowledges?

Job 37:17

ASV: How thy garments are warm, When the earth is still by reason of the south [wind]?

DARBY: How thy garments become warm when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?

DRA: Are not thy garments hot, when the south wind blows upon the earth?

KJV: How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?

Job 37:18

ASV: Canst thou with him spread out the sky, Which is strong as a molten mirror?

DARBY: Hast thou with him spread out the sky, firm, like a molten mirror?

DRA: Thou perhaps hast made the heavens with him, which are most strong, as if they were of molten brass.

KJV: Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?

Job 37:19

ASV: Teach us what we shall say unto him; [For] we cannot set [our speech] in order by reason of darkness.

DARBY: Teach us what we shall say unto him! We cannot order [our words] by reason of darkness.

DRA: Shew us what we may say to him : for we are wrapped up in darkness.

Job 37:20

ASV: Shall it be told him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?

DARBY: Shall it be told him if I would speak? if a man [so] say, surely he shall be swallowed up.

DRA: Who shall tell him the things I speak? even if a man shall speak, he shall be swallowed up.

Job 37:21

ASV: And now men see not the light which is bright in the skies; But the wind passeth, and cleareth them.

DARBY: And now [men] see not the light as it gleameth, it is [hidden] in the skies. But the wind passeth by and cleareth them.

DRA: But now they see not the light : the air on a sudden shall be thickened into clouds, and the wind shall pass and drive them away.

KJV: And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

Job 37:22

ASV: Out of the north cometh golden splendor: God hath upon him terrible majesty.

DARBY: From the north cometh gold; with God is terrible majesty.

DRA: Cold cometh out of the north, and to God praise with fear.

KJV: Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.

Job 37:23

ASV: [Touching] the Almighty, we cannot find him out He is excellent in power; And in justice and plenteous righteousness he will not afflict.

DARBY: The Almighty, we cannot find him out: excellent in power, and in judgment, and in abundance of justice, he doth not afflict.

DRA: We cannot find him worthily : he is great in strength, and in judgment, and in justice, and he is ineffable.

Job 37:24

ASV: Men do therefore fear him: He regardeth not any that are wise of heart.

DRA: Therefore men shall fear him, and all that seem to themselves to be wise, shall not dare to behold him.
