Job 39:1

ASV: Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [Or] canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?

DARBY: Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? dost thou mark the calving of the hinds?

DRA: Knowest thou the time when the wild goats bring forth among the rocks, or hast thou observed the hinds when they fawn?

Job 39:2

ASV: Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? Or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?

Job 39:3

ASV: They bow themselves, they bring forth their young, They cast out their pains.

Job 39:8

ASV: The range of the mountains is his pasture, And he searcheth after every green thing.

Job 39:9

ASV: Will the wild-ox be content to serve thee? Or will he abide by thy crib?

Job 39:10

ASV: Canst thou bind the wild-ox with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

DARBY: Canst thou bind the buffalo with his cord in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

DRA: Canst thou bind the rhinoceros with thy thong to plough, or will he break the clods of the valleys after thee?

Job 39:11

ASV: Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? Or wilt thou leave to him thy labor?

DARBY: Wilt thou put confidence in him, because his strength is great? and wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

DRA: Wilt thou have confidence in his great strength, and leave thy labours to him?

Job 39:12

ASV: Wilt thou confide in him, that he will bring home thy seed, And gather [the grain] of thy threshing-floor?

DARBY: Wilt thou trust him to bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy threshing-floor?

DRA: Wilt thou trust him that he will render thee the seed, and gather it into thy barnfloor?

Job 39:13

ASV: The wings of the ostrich wave proudly; [But] are they the pinions and plumage of love?

DARBY: The wing of the ostrich beats joyously But is it the stork's pinion and plumage?

DRA: The wing of the ostrich is like the wings of the heron, and of the hawk.

KJV: Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

ASV: For she leaveth her eggs on the earth, And warmeth them in the dust,

ASV: And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, Or that the wild beast may trample them.

Job 39:16

ASV: She dealeth hardly with her young ones, as if they were not hers: Though her labor be in vain, [she is] without fear;

Job 39:19

ASV: Hast thou given the horse [his] might? Hast thou clothed his neck with the quivering mane?

DARBY: Hast thou given strength to the horse? hast thou clothed his neck with the quivering mane?

DRA: Wilt thou give strength to the horse, or clothe his neck with neighing?

KJV: Hath thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

Job 39:20

ASV: Hast thou made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is terrible.

DARBY: Dost thou make him to leap as a locust? His majestic snorting is terrible.

DRA: Wilt thou lift him up like the locusts? the glory of his nostrils is terror.

KJV: Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.

Job 39:21

ASV: He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: He goeth out to meet the armed men.

DARBY: He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in [his] strength; he goeth forth to meet the armed host.

DRA: He breaketh up the earth with his hoof, he pranceth boldly, he goeth forward to meet armed men.

ASV: He mocketh at fear, and is not dismayed; Neither turneth he back from the sword.

Job 39:23

ASV: The quiver rattleth against him, The flashing spear and the javelin.

Job 39:24

ASV: He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage; Neither believeth he that it is the voice of the trumpet.

DRA: Chasing and raging he swalloweth the ground, neither doth he make account when the noise of the trumpet soundeth.

Job 39:25

ASV: As oft as the trumpet [soundeth] he saith, Aha! And he smelleth the battle afar off, The thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

DRA: When he heareth the trumpet he saith : Ha, ha : he smelleth the battle afar off, the encouraging of the captains, and the shouting of the army.

Job 39:26

ASV: Is it by thy wisdom that the hawk soareth, (And) stretcheth her wings toward the south?

DARBY: Doth the hawk fly by thine intelligence, [and] stretch his wings toward the south?

DRA: Doth the hawk wax feathered by thy wisdom, spreading her wings to the south?

KJV: Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?

Job 39:27

ASV: Is it at thy command that the eagle mounteth up, And maketh her nest on high?

DARBY: Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make his nest on high?

DRA: Will the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest in high places?

Job 39:28

ASV: On the cliff she dwelleth, and maketh her home, Upon the point of the cliff, and the stronghold.

DARBY: He inhabiteth the rock and maketh his dwelling on the point of the cliff, and the fastness:

DRA: She abideth among the rocks, and dwelleth among cragged flints, and stony hills, where there is no access.

ASV: From thence she spieth out the prey; Her eyes behold it afar off.

ASV: Her young ones also suck up blood: And where the slain are, there is she.

DRA: And the Lord went on, and said to Job :

DRA: Shall he that contendeth with God be so easily silenced? surely he that reproveth God, ought to answer him.

Job 39:33

DRA: Then Job answered the Lord, and said :

DRA: One thing I have spoken, which I wish I had not said : and another, to which I will add no more.
