ASV: Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

DARBY: And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,

Job 8:2

ASV: How long wilt thou speak these things? And [how long] shall the words of thy mouth be [like] a mighty wind?

DARBY: How long wilt thou speak these things? and the words of thy mouth be a strong wind?

DRA: How long wilt thou speak these things, and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

Job 8:3

ASV: Doth God pervert justice? Or doth the Almighty pervert righteousness?

DARBY: Doth God pervert judgment, and the Almighty pervert justice?

DRA: Doth God pervert judgment, or doth the Almighty overthrow that which is just?

KJV: Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

Job 8:4

ASV: If thy children have sinned against him, And he hath delivered them into the hand of their transgression;

ASV: If thou wouldest seek diligently unto God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty;

Job 8:6

ASV: If thou wert pure and upright: Surely now he would awake for thee, And make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

DARBY: If thou be pure and upright, surely now he will awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous;

DRA: If thou wilt walk clean and upright, he will presently awake onto thee, and will make the dwelling of thy justice peaceable:

Job 8:7

ASV: And though thy beginning was small, Yet thy latter end would greatly increase.

DARBY: And though thy beginning was small, yet thine end shall be very great.

DRA: Insomuch, that if thy former things were small, thy latter things would be multiplied exceedingly.

ASV: For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And apply thyself to that which their fathers have searched out:

ASV: (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days upon earth are a shadow);

ASV: Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, And utter words out of their heart?

Job 8:11

ASV: Can the rush grow up without mire? Can the flag grow without water?

DARBY: Doth the papyrus shoot up without mire? doth the reed-grass grow without water?

DRA: Can the rush be green without moisture? or a sedge-bush grow without water?

Job 8:12

ASV: Whilst it is yet in its greenness, [and] not cut down, It withereth before any [other] herb.

DRA: When it is yet in flower, and is not plucked up with the hand, it withereth before all herbs.

ASV: So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish:

Job 8:14

ASV: Whose confidence shall break in sunder, And whose trust is a spider`s web.

DARBY: Whose confidence shall be cut off, and his reliance is a spider's web.

DRA: His folly shall not please him, and his trust shall be like the spider's web.

Job 8:15

ASV: He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: He shall hold fast thereby, but it shall not endure.

ASV: He is green before the sun, And his shoots go forth over his garden.

Job 8:17

ASV: His roots are wrapped about the [stone] -heap, He beholdeth the place of stones.

DARBY: His roots are entwined about the stoneheap; he seeth the place of stones.

DRA: His roots shall be thick upon a heap of stones, and among the stones he shall abide.

Job 8:18

ASV: If he be destroyed from his place, Then it shall deny him, [saying], I have not seen thee.

DARBY: If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him: I have not seen thee!

DRA: If one swallow him up out of his place, he shall deny him, and shall say: I know thee not.

Job 8:19

ASV: Behold, this is the joy of his way; And out of the earth shall others spring.

DARBY: Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the dust shall others grow.

DRA: For this is the joy of his way, that others may spring again out of the earth.

Job 8:20

ASV: Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, Neither will he uphold the evil-doers.

ASV: He will yet fill thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with shouting.

DARBY: Whilst he would fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouting,

DRA: Until thy mouth be filled with laughter, and thy lips with rejoicing.

Job 8:22

ASV: They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; And the tent of the wicked shall be no more.

DARBY: They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked be no more.

DRA: They that hate thee, shall be clothed with confusion: and the dwelling of the wicked shall not stand.
