Psalms 127:1

AMP: Unless the Lord builds the house,They labor in vain who build it;Unless the Lord guards the city,The watchman keeps awake in vain. [Ps 121:1, 3, 5]

ASV: Except Jehovah build the house, They labor in vain that build it: Except Jehovah keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain.

BSB: Unless the LORD builds the house,its builders labor in vain;unless the LORD protects the city,its watchmen stand guard in vain.

Psalms 127:2

AMP: It is vain for you to rise early,To retire late,To eat the bread of anxious labors—For He gives [blessings] to His beloved even in his sleep.

ASV: It is vain for you to rise up early, To take rest late, To eat the bread of toil; [For] so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.

BSB: In vain you rise earlyand stay up late,toiling for bread to eat —for He gives sleep to His beloved.

DARBY: It is vain for you to rise up early, to lie down late, to eat the bread of sorrows: so to his beloved one he giveth sleep.

DRA: Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them.

KJV: It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Psalms 127:3

AMP: ¶Behold, children are a heritage and gift from the Lord,The fruit of the womb a reward. [Deut 28:4]

ASV: Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah; [And] the fruit of the womb is [his] reward.

BSB: Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD,and the fruit of the womb is His reward.

DARBY: Lo, children are an inheritance from Jehovah, [and] the fruit of the womb a reward.

DRA: The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.

Psalms 127:4

AMP: Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,So are the children of one’s youth.

ASV: As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.

BSB: Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,so are children born in one’s youth.

DARBY: As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

DRA: Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.

KJV: As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Psalms 127:5

AMP: How blessed [happy and fortunate] is the man whose quiver is filled with them;They will not be ashamedWhen they speak with their enemies [in gatherings] at the [city] gate.

ASV: Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be put to shame, When they speak with their enemies in the gate. Psalm 128 A Song of Ascents.

BSB: Blessed is the manwhose quiver is full of them.He will not be put to shamewhen he confronts the enemies at the gate.

DARBY: Happy is the man that hath filled his quiver with them. They shall not be ashamed when they speak with enemies in the gate.

Psalms 127:6
