Psalms 127:1

ASV: Except Jehovah build the house, They labor in vain that build it: Except Jehovah keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain.

DARBY: {A Song of degrees. Of Solomon.} Unless Jehovah build the house, in vain do its builders labour in it; unless Jehovah keep the city, the keeper watcheth in vain:

DRA: When the lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted.

Psalms 127:2

ASV: It is vain for you to rise up early, To take rest late, To eat the bread of toil; [For] so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.

DARBY: It is vain for you to rise up early, to lie down late, to eat the bread of sorrows: so to his beloved one he giveth sleep.

DRA: Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them.

KJV: It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Psalms 127:3

ASV: Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah; [And] the fruit of the womb is [his] reward.

DARBY: Lo, children are an inheritance from Jehovah, [and] the fruit of the womb a reward.

DRA: The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.

KJV: Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Psalms 127:4

ASV: As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.

DARBY: As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

DRA: Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.

KJV: As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Psalms 127:5

ASV: Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be put to shame, When they speak with their enemies in the gate. Psalm 128 A Song of Ascents.

DARBY: Happy is the man that hath filled his quiver with them. They shall not be ashamed when they speak with enemies in the gate.

DRA: They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
