Psalms 137:1

AMP: By the rivers of Babylon,There we [captives] sat down and wept,When we remembered Zion [the city God imprinted on our hearts].

ASV: By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept, When we remembered Zion.

Psalms 137:2

AMP: On the willow trees in the midst of BabylonWe hung our harps.

ASV: Upon the willows in the midst thereof We hanged up our harps.

Psalms 137:3

AMP: For there they who took us captive demanded of us a song with words,And our tormentors [who made a mockery of us demanded] amusement, saying,“Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”

ASV: For there they that led us captive required of us songs, And they that wasted us [required of us] mirth, [saying], Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

Psalms 137:5

AMP: If I forget you, O Jerusalem,Let my right hand forget [her skill with the harp].

ASV: If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget [her skill].

BSB: If I forget you, O Jerusalem,may my right hand cease to function.

DARBY: If I forget thee, Jerusalem, let my right hand forget [its skill];

Psalms 137:6

AMP: Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouthIf I do not remember you,If I do not prefer JerusalemAbove my chief joy. [Ezek 3:26]

ASV: Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, If I remember thee not; If I prefer not Jerusalem Above my chief joy.

Psalms 137:7

AMP: ¶Remember, O Lord, against the sons of Edom,The day of [the fall of] Jerusalem,Who said “Down, down [with her]To her very foundation.”

ASV: Remember, O Jehovah, against the children of Edom The day of Jerusalem; Who said, Rase it, rase it, Even to the foundation thereof.

BSB: Remember, O LORD,the sons of Edom on the day Jerusalem fell:“Destroy it,” they said,“tear it down to its foundations!”

Psalms 137:8

AMP: O daughter of Babylon, you devastator,How blessed will be the oneWho repays you [with destruction] as you have repaid us. [Is 13:1-22; Jer 25:12, 13]

ASV: O daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed, Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee As thou hast served us.

BSB: O Daughter of Babylon,doomed to destruction,blessed is he who repays youas you have done to us.

Psalms 137:9

AMP: How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little onesAgainst the rock.

DRA: And overthrew Pharao and his host in the Red Sea: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: Who led his people through the desert: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: Who smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: And slew strong kings: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: Sehon king of the Amorrhites: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: And Og king of Basan: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: And he gave their land for an inheritance: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: For an inheritance to his servant Israel: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: For he was mindful of us in our affliction: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: And he redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

DRA: Give glory to the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.
