Psalms 27:1

ASV: Jehovah is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

DARBY: {[A Psalm] of David.} Jehovah is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

DRA: The psalm of David before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?

KJV: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalms 27:2

ASV: When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, [Even] mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

DARBY: When evil-doers, mine adversaries and mine enemies, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

DRA: Whilst the wicked draw near against me, to eat my flesh. My enemies that trouble me, have themselves been weakened, and have fallen.

KJV: When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Psalms 27:3

ASV: Though a host should encamp against me, My heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, Even then will I be confident.

DARBY: If a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; if war rise against me, in this will I be confident.

DRA: If armies in camp should stand together against me, my heart shall not fear. If a battle should rise up against me, in this will I be confident.

KJV: Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Psalms 27:4

ASV: One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Jehovah, And to inquire in his temple.

DARBY: One [thing] have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Jehovah, and to inquire [of him] in his temple.

DRA: One thing I have asked of the Lord, this will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. That I may see the delight of the Lord, and may visit his temple.

KJV: One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Psalms 27:5

ASV: For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion: In the covert of his tabernacle will he hide me; He will lift me up upon a rock.

DARBY: For in the day of evil he will hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tent will he keep me concealed: he will set me high upon a rock.

DRA: For he hath hidden me in his tabernacle; in the day of evils, he hath protected me in the secret place of his tabernacle.

KJV: For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

Psalms 27:6

ASV: And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me. And I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.

DARBY: And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tent sacrifices of shouts of joy: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms unto Jehovah.

DRA: He hath exalted me upon a rock: and now he hath lifted up my head above my enemies. I have gone round, and have offered up in his tabernacle a sacrifice of jubilation: I will sing, and recite a psalm to the Lord.

Psalms 27:7

ASV: Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

DARBY: Hear, Jehovah; with my voice do I call; be gracious unto me, and answer me.

DRA: Hear, O Lord, my voice, with which I have cried to thee: have mercy on me and hear me.

Psalms 27:8

ASV: [When thou saidst], Seek ye my face; My heart said unto thee, Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek.

DARBY: My heart said for thee, Seek ye my face. Thy face, O Jehovah, will I seek.

DRA: My heart hath said to thee: My face hath sought thee: thy face, O Lord, will I still seek.

KJV: When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

Psalms 27:9

ASV: Hide not thy face from me; Put not thy servant away in anger: Thou hast been my help; Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

DARBY: Hide not thy face from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

DRA: Turn not away thy face from me; decline not in thy wrath from thy servant. Be thou my helper, forsake me not; do not thou despise me, O God my Saviour.

KJV: Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Psalms 27:10

ASV: When my father and my mother forsake me, Then Jehovah will take me up.

DARBY: For had my father and my mother forsaken me, then had Jehovah taken me up.

DRA: For my father and my mother have left me: but the Lord hath taken me up.

KJV: When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

Psalms 27:11

ASV: Teach me thy way, O Jehovah; And lead me in a plain path, Because of mine enemies.

DARBY: Teach me thy way, Jehovah, and lead me in an even path, because of mine enemies.

DRA: Set me, O Lord, a law in thy way, and guide me in the right path, because of my enemies.

Psalms 27:12

ASV: Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries: For false witnesses are risen up against me, And such as breathe out cruelty.

DARBY: Deliver me not over to the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence.

DRA: Deliver me not over to the will of them that trouble me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me; and iniquity hath lied to itself.

KJV: Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

Psalms 27:13

ASV: [I had fainted], unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living.

DARBY: Unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living !

DRA: I believe to see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.

KJV: I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Psalms 27:14

ASV: Wait for Jehovah: Be strong, and let thy heart take courage; Yea, wait thou for Jehovah. Psalm 28 [A Psalm] of David.

DARBY: Wait for Jehovah; be strong and let thy heart take courage: yea, wait for Jehovah.

DRA: Expect the Lord, do manfully, and let thy heart take courage, and wait thou for the Lord.
