Psalms 31:1

AMP: In You, O Lord, I have placed my trust and taken refuge;Let me never be ashamed;In Your righteousness rescue me.

ASV: In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge; Let me never be put to shame: Deliver me in thy righteousness.

BSB: In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge;let me never be put to shame;save me by Your righteousness.

Psalms 31:2

AMP: Incline Your ear to me, deliver me quickly;Be my rock of refuge,And a strong fortress to save me.

Psalms 31:3

AMP: Yes, You are my rock and my fortress;For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.

Psalms 31:4

AMP: You will draw me out of the net that they have secretly laid for me,For You are my strength and my stronghold.

Psalms 31:6

AMP: ¶I hate those who pay regard to vain (empty, worthless) idols;But I trust in the Lord [and rely on Him with unwavering confidence].

ASV: I hate them that regard lying vanities; But I trust in Jehovah.

BSB: I hate those who cling to worthless idols,but in the LORD I trust.

DARBY: I have hated them that observe lying vanities; and as for me, I have confided in Jehovah.

Psalms 31:7

AMP: I will rejoice and be glad in Your steadfast love,Because You have seen my affliction;You have taken note of my life’s distresses,

Psalms 31:8

AMP: And You have not given me into the hand of the enemy;You have set my feet in a broad place.

Psalms 31:9

AMP: ¶Be gracious and compassionate to me, O Lord, for I am in trouble;My eye is clouded and weakened by grief, my soul and my body also.

ASV: Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah, for I am in distress: Mine eye wasteth away with grief, [yea], my soul and my body.

BSB: Be merciful to me, O LORD,for I am in distress;my eyes fail from sorrow,my soul and body as well.

Psalms 31:10

AMP: For my life is spent with sorrowAnd my years with sighing;My strength has failed because of my iniquity,And even my body has wasted away.

ASV: For my life is spent with sorrow, And my years with sighing: My strength faileth because of mine iniquity, And my bones are wasted away.

BSB: For my life is consumed with griefand my years with groaning;my iniquity has drained my strength,and my bones are wasting away.

Psalms 31:11

AMP: Because of all my enemies I have become a reproach and disgrace,Especially to my neighbors,And an object of dread to my acquaintances;Those who see me on the street run from me.

ASV: Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, Yea, unto my neighbors exceedingly, And a fear to mine acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me.

BSB: Among all my enemies I am a disgrace,and among my neighbors even more.I am dreaded by my friends —they flee when they see me on the street.

AMP: I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind;I am like a broken vessel.

AMP: For I have heard the slander and whispering of many,Terror is on every side;While they schemed together against me,They plotted to take away my life. [Jer 20:10]

AMP: ¶But as for me, I trust [confidently] in You and Your greatness, O Lord;I said, “You are my God.”

AMP: My times are in Your hands;Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue and persecute me.

Psalms 31:18

AMP: Let the lying lips be mute,Which speak insolently and arrogantly against the [consistently] righteousWith pride and contempt.

ASV: Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

BSB: May lying lips be silenced —lips that speak with arrogance against the righteous,full of pride and contempt.

DARBY: Let the lying lips become dumb, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt.

DRA: Let me not be confounded, O Lord, for I have called upon thee. Let the wicked be ashamed, and be brought down to hell.

Psalms 31:19

AMP: ¶How great is Your goodness,Which You have stored up for those who [reverently] fear You,Which You have prepared for those who take refuge in You,Before the sons of man!

ASV: Oh how great is thy goodness, Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee, Which thou hast wrought for them that take refuge in thee, Before the sons of men!

BSB: How great is Your goodnesswhich You have laid up for those who fear You,which You have bestowed before the sons of menon those who take refuge in You!

Psalms 31:20

AMP: In the secret place of Your presence You hide them from the plots and conspiracies of man;You keep them secretly in a shelter (pavilion) from the strife of tongues.

ASV: In the covert of thy presence wilt thou hide them from the plottings of man: Thou wilt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

BSB: You hide them in the secret place of Your presencefrom the schemes of men.You conceal them in Your shelterfrom accusing tongues.

Psalms 31:21

AMP: Blessed be the Lord,For He has shown His marvelous favor and lovingkindness to me [when I was assailed] in a besieged city.

ASV: Blessed be Jehovah; For he hath showed me his marvellous lovingkindness in a strong city.

BSB: Blessed be the LORD,for He has shown me His loving devotionin a city under siege.

DARBY: Blessed be Jehovah; for he hath shewn me wondrously his loving-kindness in a strong city.

DRA: Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy face, from the disturbance of men. Thou shalt protect them in thy tabernacle from the contradiction of tongues.

KJV: Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.

Psalms 31:22

AMP: As for me, I said in my alarm,“I am cut off from Your eyes.”Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications (specific requests)When I cried to You [for help].

ASV: As for me, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: Nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications When I cried unto thee.

BSB: In my alarm I said,“I am cut off from Your sight!”But You heard my plea for mercywhen I called to You for help.

Psalms 31:23

AMP: ¶O love the Lord, all you His godly ones!The Lord preserves the faithful [those with moral and spiritual integrity]And fully repays the [self-righteousness of the] arrogant.

ASV: Oh love Jehovah, all ye his saints: Jehovah preserveth the faithful, And plentifully rewardeth him that dealeth proudly.
