Psalms 41

Psalms 41:1

AMP: Blessed [by God’s grace and compassion] is he who considers the helpless;The Lord will save him in the day of trouble.

ASV: Blessed is he that considereth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.

BSB: Blessed is the one who cares for the poor;the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.

DARBY: {To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} Blessed is he that understandeth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.

Psalms 41:2

AMP: The Lord will protect him and keep him alive;And he will be called blessed in the land;You do not hand him over to the desire of his enemies.

ASV: Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive, And he shall be blessed upon the earth; And deliver not thou him unto the will of his enemies.

BSB: The LORD will protect and preserve him;He will bless him in the landand refuse to give him overto the will of his foes.

DARBY: Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy in the land; and thou wilt not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

Psalms 41:3

AMP: The Lord will sustain and strengthen him on his sickbed;In his illness, You will restore him to health.

ASV: Jehovah will support him upon the couch of languishing: Thou makest all his bed in his sickness.

BSB: The LORD will sustain him on his bed of illnessand restore him from his bed of sickness.

DARBY: Jehovah will sustain him upon the bed of languishing: thou turnest all his bed in his sickness.

DRA: The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth : and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.

KJV: The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

Psalms 41:4

AMP: ¶As for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me;Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

ASV: I said, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me: Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

BSB: I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me;heal me, for I have sinned against You.”

DARBY: As for me, I said, Jehovah, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

DRA: The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow : thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness.

KJV: I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Psalms 41:5

AMP: My enemies speak evil of me, saying,“When will he die and his name perish?”

ASV: Mine enemies speak evil against me, [saying], When will he die, and his name perish?

BSB: My enemies say with malice:“When will he die and be forgotten?”

DARBY: Mine enemies wish me evil: When will he die, and his name perish?

DRA: I said: O Lord, be thou merciful to me : heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.

KJV: Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

Psalms 41:6

AMP: And when one comes to see me, he speaks empty words,While his heart gathers malicious gossip [against me];When he goes away, he tells it [everywhere].

ASV: And if he come to see [me], he speaketh falsehood; His heart gathereth iniquity to itself: When he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

BSB: My visitor speaks falsehood;he gathers slander in his heart;he goes out and spreads it abroad.

DARBY: And if one come to see [me], he speaketh falsehood; his heart gathereth wickedness to itself: he goeth abroad, he telleth [it].

DRA: My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish?

KJV: And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

Psalms 41:7

AMP: All who hate me whisper together about me;Against me they devise my hurt [imagining the worst for me], saying,

ASV: All that hate me whisper together against me; Against me do they devise my hurt.

BSB: All who hate me whisper against me;they imagine the worst for me:

DARBY: All that hate me whisper together against me; against me do they devise my hurt.

DRA: And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things : his heart gathered together iniquity to itself. He went out and spoke to the same purpose.

Psalms 41:8

AMP: “A wicked thing is poured out upon him and holds him;And when he lies down, he will not rise up again.”

ASV: An evil disease, [say they], cleaveth fast unto him; And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

BSB: “A vile disease has been poured into him;he will never get up from where he lies!”

DARBY: A thing of Belial cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he is laid down, he will rise up no more.

DRA: All my enemies whispered together against me : they devised evils to me.

Psalms 41:9

AMP: Even my own close friend in whom I trusted,Who ate my bread,Has lifted up his heel against me [betraying me]. [John 13:18]

ASV: Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Who did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me.

BSB: Even my close friend whom I trusted,the one who shared my bread,has lifted up his heel against me.

DARBY: Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I confided, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me.

DRA: They determined against me an unjust word : shall he that sleepeth rise again no more?

Psalms 41:10

AMP: ¶But You, O Lord, be gracious to me and restore me [to health],So that I may repay them.

ASV: But thou, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me, and raise me up, That I may requite them.

BSB: But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up,that I may repay them.

DRA: For even the man of peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, hath greatly supplanted me.

Psalms 41:11

AMP: By this I know that You favor and delight in me,Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.

ASV: By this I know that thou delightest in me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

Psalms 41:12

AMP: As for me, You uphold me in my integrity,And You set me in Your presence forever.

ASV: And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me before thy face for ever.
