ASV: Hear this, all ye peoples; Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world,
DARBY: {To the chief Musician. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.} Hear this, all ye peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world:

Psalms 49:2
ASV: Both low and high, Rich and poor together.

Psalms 49:3
ASV: My mouth shall speak wisdom; And the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

DRA: All you that are earthborn, and you sons of men: both rich and poor together.

Psalms 49:5
ASV: Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, When iniquity at my heels compasseth me about?
DARBY: Wherefore should I fear in the days of adversity, [when] the iniquity of my supplanters encompasseth me?
DRA: I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my proposition on the psaltery.

ASV: They that trust in their wealth, And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
DARBY: They depend upon their wealth, and boast themselves in the abundance of their riches.
DRA: Why shall I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall encompass me.

ASV: None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him;

Psalms 49:9
ASV: That he should still live alway, That he should not see corruption.

DRA: Nor the price of the redemption of his soul: and shall labour for ever,

ASV: For he shall see it. Wise men die; The fool and the brutish alike perish, And leave their wealth to others.

ASV: Their inward thought is, [that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [And] their dwelling-places to all generations; They call their lands after their own names.

DRA: He shall not see destruction, when he shall see the wise dying: the senseless and the fool shall perish together: And they shall leave their riches to strangers:

ASV: But man [being] in honor abideth not: He is like the beasts that perish.
DARBY: Nevertheless, man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
DRA: and their sepulchres shall be their houses for ever. Their dwelling places to all generations: they have called their lands by their names.

ASV: This their way is their folly: Yet after them men approve their sayings. Selah
DARBY: This their way is their folly, yet they that come after them delight in their sayings. Selah.
DRA: And man when he was in honour did not understand; he is compared to senseless beasts, and is become like to them.

Psalms 49:14
ASV: They are appointed as a flock for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; And their beauty shall be for Sheol to consume, That there be no habitation for it.
DARBY: Like sheep are they laid in Sheol: Death feedeth on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their comeliness shall be for Sheol to consume, that there be no habitation for them.
DRA: This way of theirs is a stumblingblock to them: and afterwards they shall delight in their mouth.
KJV: Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Psalms 49:15
ASV: But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol; For he will receive me. Selah
DARBY: But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol: for he will receive me. Selah.
DRA: They are laid in hell like sheep: death shall feed upon them. And the just shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their help shall decay in hell from their glory.

Psalms 49:16
ASV: Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased.
DARBY: Be not afraid when a man becometh rich, when the glory of his house is increased:
DRA: But God will redeem my soul from the hand of hell, when he shall receive me.

ASV: For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.

ASV: Though while he lived he blessed his soul (And men praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself,)
