Psalms 53:1

AMP: The [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”They are corrupt and evil, and have committed repulsive injustice;There is no one who does good.

ASV: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none that doeth good.

BSB: The fool says in his heart,“There is no God.”They are corrupt; their ways are vile.There is no one who does good.

DARBY: {To the chief Musician. On Mahalath: an instruction. Of David.} The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God! They have corrupted themselves, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

Psalms 53:2

AMP: God has looked down from heaven upon the children of menTo see if there is anyone who understands,Who seeks after God [who requires Him, who longs for Him as essential to life].

ASV: God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God.

Psalms 53:3

Psalms 53:4

AMP: ¶Have workers of wickedness no knowledge or no understanding?They eat up My people as though they ate breadAnd have not called upon God.

ASV: Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people [as] they eat bread, And call not upon God?

BSB: Will the workers of iniquity never learn?They devour my people like bread;they refuse to call upon God.

DARBY: Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, eating up my people [as] they eat bread? they call not upon God.

DRA: All have gone aside, they are become unprofitable together, there is none that doth good, no not one.

Psalms 53:5

AMP: There they were, in great terror and dread, where there had been no terror or dread;For God scattered the bones of him who besieged you;You have put them to shame, because God has rejected them.

ASV: There were they in great fear, where no fear was; For God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: Thou hast put them to shame, because of God hath rejected them.

BSB: There they are, overwhelmed with dread,where there was nothing to fear.For God has scattered the bonesof those who besieged you.You put them to shame,for God has despised them.

DARBY: There were they in great fear, where no fear was; for God scattereth the bones of him that encampeth against thee. Thou hast put [them] to shame, for God hath despised them.

DRA: Shall not all the workers of iniquity know, who eat up my people as they eat bread?

Psalms 53:6

AMP: Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!When God restores [the fortunes of] His people,Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

ASV: Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, [and] Israel shall be glad. Psalm 54 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. Maschil of David; when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?

BSB: Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion!When God restores His captive people,let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!

DARBY: Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God turneth again the captivity of his people, Jacob shall be glad, Israel shall rejoice.

DRA: They have not called upon God: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear. For God hath scattered the bones of them that please men: they have been confounded, because God hath despised them.

KJV: Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalms 53:7

DRA: Who will give out of Sion the salvation of Israel? when God shall bring back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
