Psalms 58:1

AMP: Do you indeed speak righteousness, O gods (heavenly beings)?Do you judge fairly, O sons of men? [Ps 82:1, 2]

ASV: Do ye indeed in silence speak righteousness? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

BSB: Do you indeed speak justly, O rulers?Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?

DARBY: {To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' Of David. Michtam.} Is righteousness indeed silent? Do ye speak it? Do ye judge with equity, ye sons of men?

DRA: Unto the end, destroy not, for David, for an inscription of a title.

Psalms 58:2

AMP: No, in your heart you devise wrongdoing;On earth you deal out the violence of your hands.

ASV: Nay, in heart ye work wickedness; Ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

BSB: No, in your hearts you devise injustice;with your hands you mete out violence on the earth.

DARBY: Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

DRA: If in very deed you speak justice: judge right things, ye sons of men.

Psalms 58:3

AMP: The wicked are estranged from the womb;These go astray from birth, speaking lies [even twisted partial truths].

ASV: The wicked are estranged from the womb: They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

BSB: The wicked are estranged from the womb;the liars go astray from birth.

DARBY: The wicked go astray from the womb; they err as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

DRA: For in your heart you work iniquity: your hands forge injustice in the earth.

Psalms 58:4

AMP: Their poison is like the venom of a serpent;They are like the deaf horned viper that stops up its ear,

ASV: Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: [They are] like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear,

BSB: Their venom is like the venom of a snake,like a cobra that shuts its ears,

DARBY: Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder which stoppeth her ear;

DRA: The wicked are alienated from the womb; they have gone astray from the womb: they have spoken false things.

Psalms 58:5

AMP: So that it does not listen to the voice of charmers,Or of the skillful enchanter casting [cunning] spells.

ASV: Which hearkeneth not to the voice of charmers, Charming never so wisely.

BSB: refusing to hear the tune of the charmerwho skillfully weaves his spell.

DARBY: Which doth not hearken to the voice of enchanters, of one charming ever so wisely.

DRA: Their madness is according to the likeness of a serpent: like the deaf asp that stoppeth her ears:

Psalms 58:6

AMP: ¶O God, break their teeth in their mouth;Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord.

ASV: Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.

BSB: O God, shatter their teeth in their mouths;O LORD, tear out the fangs of the lions.

DARBY: O God, break their teeth in their mouth; break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.

DRA: Which will not hear the voice of the charmers; nor of the wizard that charmeth wisely.

Psalms 58:7

AMP: Let them flow away like water that runs off;When he aims his arrows, let them be as headless shafts.

ASV: Let them melt away as water that runneth apace: When he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.

BSB: May they vanishlike water that runs off;when they draw the bow,may their arrows be blunted.

DARBY: Let them melt away as waters that flow off; when he aimeth his arrows, let them be as blunted:

DRA: God shall break in pieces their teeth in their mouth: the Lord shall break the grinders of the lions.

KJV: Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

Psalms 58:8

AMP: Let them be as a snail which melts away (secretes slime) as it goes along,Like the miscarriage of a woman which never sees the sun.

ASV: [Let them be] as a snail which melteth and passeth away, [Like] the untimely birth of a woman, that hath not seen the sun.

BSB: Like a slug that dissolves in its slime,like a woman’s stillborn child,may they never see the sun.

DARBY: Let them be as a snail that melteth as it passeth away; [like] the untimely birth of a woman, let them not see the sun.

DRA: They shall come to nothing, like water running down; he hath bent his bow till they be weakened.

KJV: As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

Psalms 58:9

AMP: Before your cooking pots can feel the fire of thorns [burning under them as fuel],He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning ones alike.

ASV: Before your pots can feel the thorns, He will take them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.

BSB: Before your pots can feel the burning thorns—whether green or dry—He will sweep them away.

DARBY: Before your pots feel the thorns, green or burning, they shall be whirled away.

DRA: Like wax that melteth they shall be taken away: fire hath fallen on them, and they shall not see the sun.

KJV: Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

Psalms 58:10

AMP: ¶The [unyieldingly] righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance [of God];He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

ASV: The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked;

BSB: The righteous will rejoicewhen they see they are avenged;they will wash their feetin the blood of the wicked.

DARBY: The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance; he shall wash his footsteps in the blood of the wicked:

DRA: Before your thorns could know the brier; he swalloweth them up, as alive, in his wrath.

KJV: The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

Psalms 58:11

AMP: Men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous;Surely there is a God who judges on the earth.”

ASV: So that men shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: Verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth. Psalm 59 For the Chief Musician; [set to] Al-tashheth. [A Psalm] of David. Michtam; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him.

BSB: Then men will say,“There is surely a reward for the righteous!There is surely a God who judges the earth!”

DARBY: And men shall say, Verily there is fruit for the righteous; verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.

DRA: The just shall rejoice when he shall see the revenge: he shall wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.

KJV: So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Psalms 58:12

DRA: And man shall say: If indeed there be fruit to the just: there is indeed a God that judgeth them on the earth.
