Psalms 73:1

ASV: Surely God is good to Israel, [Even] to such as are pure in heart.

DARBY: {A Psalm of Asaph.} Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are of a pure heart.

DRA: A psalm for Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to them that are of a right heart!

KJV: Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

Psalms 73:2

ASV: But as for me, my feet were almost gone; My steps had well nigh slipped.

DARBY: But as for me, my feet were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped;

Psalms 73:3

ASV: For I was envious at the arrogant, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

DARBY: For I was envious at the arrogant, seeing the prosperity of the wicked.

DRA: Because I had a zeal on occasion of the wicked, seeing the prosperity of sinners.

KJV: For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Psalms 73:4

ASV: For there are no pangs in their death; But their strength is firm.

DARBY: For they have no pangs in their death, and their body is well nourished;

DRA: For there is no regard to their death, nor is there strength in their stripes.

KJV: For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

Psalms 73:5

ASV: They are not in trouble as [other] men; Neither are they plagued like [other] men.

DARBY: They have not the hardships of mankind, neither are they plagued like [other] men:

DRA: They are not in the labour of men: neither shall they be scourged like other men. B Therefore pride hath held them fast: they are covered with their iniquity and their wickedness.

Psalms 73:6

ASV: Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; Violence covereth them as a garment.

Psalms 73:7

ASV: Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish.

ASV: They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression: They speak loftily.

ASV: Therefore his people return hither: And waters of a full [cup] are drained by them.

ASV: And they say, How doth God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?

Psalms 73:12

ASV: Behold, these are the wicked; And, being alway at ease, they increase in riches.

DARBY: Behold, these are the wicked, and they prosper in the world: they heap up riches.

DRA: Behold these are sinners; and yet abounding in the world they have obtained riches.

KJV: Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

Psalms 73:13

ASV: Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, And washed my hands in innocency;

DARBY: Truly have I purified my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency:

DRA: And I said: Then have I in vain justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.

KJV: Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.

ASV: For all the day long have I been plagued, And chastened every morning.

DARBY: For all the day have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

ASV: If I had said, I will speak thus; Behold, I had dealt treacherously with the generation of thy children.

ASV: Surely thou settest them in slippery places: Thou castest them down to destruction.

Psalms 73:19

ASV: How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

DARBY: How are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrors.

DRA: How are they brought to desolation? they have suddenly ceased to be: they have perished by reason of their iniquity.

Psalms 73:20

ASV: As a dream when one awaketh, So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou wilt despise their image.

DARBY: As a dream, when one awaketh, wilt thou, Lord, on arising despise their image.

DRA: As the dream of them that awake, O Lord; so in thy city thou shalt bring their image to nothing.

Psalms 73:21

ASV: For my soul was grieved, And I was pricked in my heart:

DARBY: When my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins,

DRA: For my heart hath been inflamed, and my reins have been changed:

ASV: So brutish was I, and ignorant; I was [as] a beast before thee.

ASV: Thou wilt guide me with thy counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.

ASV: Whom have I in heaven [but thee]? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides thee.

ASV: My flesh and my heart faileth; [But] God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.

Psalms 73:27

ASV: For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: Thou hast destroyed all them that play the harlot, [departing] from thee.

DARBY: For behold, they that are far from thee shall perish; thou destroyest every one that goeth a whoring from thee.

DRA: For behold they that go far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that are disloyal to thee.

Psalms 73:28

ASV: But it is good for me to draw near unto God: I have made the Lord Jehovah my refuge, That I may tell of all thy works. Psalm 74 Maschil of Asaph.

DARBY: But as for me, it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, that I may declare all thy works.

DRA: But it is good for me to adhere to my God, to put my hope in the Lord God: That I may declare all thy praises, in the gates of the daughter of Sion.
