Psalms 74:1

AMP: O God, why have You rejected us forever?Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?

ASV: O God, why hast thou cast [us] off for ever? Why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

BSB: Why have You rejected us forever, O God?Why does Your anger smolderagainst the sheep of Your pasture?

DARBY: {An instruction: of Asaph.} Why, O God, hast thou cast off for ever? [why] doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

Psalms 74:2

AMP: Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old,Which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance;Remember Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.

ASV: Remember thy congregation, which thou hast gotten of old, Which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thine inheritance; [And] mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

BSB: Remember Your congregation,which You purchased long agoand redeemed as the tribe of Your inheritance —Mount Zion, where You dwell.

DARBY: Remember thine assembly, which thou hast purchased of old, which thou hast redeemed [to be] the portion of thine inheritance, this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

DRA: Remember thy congregation, which thou hast possessed from the beginning. The sceptre of thy inheritance which thou hast redeemed: mount Sion in which thou hast dwelt.

Psalms 74:3

AMP: Turn your footsteps [quickly] toward the perpetual ruins;The enemy has damaged everything within the sanctuary.

ASV: Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual ruins, All the evil that the enemy hath done in the sanctuary.

BSB: Turn Your steps to the everlasting ruins,to everything in the sanctuary the enemy has destroyed.

DARBY: Lift up thy steps unto the perpetual desolations: everything in the sanctuary hath the enemy destroyed.

DRA: Lift up thy hands against their pride unto the end; see what things the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.

Psalms 74:4

AMP: In the midst of Your meeting place Your enemies have roared [with their battle cry];They have set up their own emblems for signs [of victory].

ASV: Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly; They have set up their ensigns for signs.

BSB: Your foes have roared within Your meeting place;they have unfurled their banners as signs,

DARBY: Thine adversaries roar in the midst of thy place of assembly; they set up their signs [for] signs.

DRA: And they that hate thee have made their boasts, in the midst of thy solemnity. They have set up their ensigns for signs,

Psalms 74:5

AMP: It seems as if one had lifted upAn axe in a forest of trees [to set a record of destruction].

ASV: They seemed as men that lifted up Axes upon a thicket of trees.

BSB: like men wielding axes in a thicket of trees

DARBY: [A man] was known as he could lift up axes in the thicket of trees;

DRA: and they knew not both in the going out and on the highest top. As with axes in a wood of trees,

Psalms 74:6

AMP: And now all the carved work [of the meeting place]They smash with hatchets and hammers.

ASV: And now all the carved work thereof They break down with hatchet and hammers.

DARBY: And now they break down its carved work altogether, with hatchets and hammers.

Psalms 74:7

AMP: They have burned Your sanctuary to the ground;They have profaned the dwelling place of Your name.

AMP: They said in their heart, “Let us completely subdue them.”They have burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

ASV: They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether: They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

BSB: They said in their hearts,“We will crush them completely.”They burned down every placewhere God met us in the land.

DARBY: They said in their heart, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all God's places of assembly in the land.

DRA: They said in their heart, the whole kindred of them together: Let us abolish all the festival days of God from the land.

Psalms 74:9

AMP: We do not see our symbols;There is no longer any prophet [to guide us],Nor does any among us know for how long.

ASV: We see not our signs: There is no more any prophet; Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

AMP: Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand [from judging the enemy]?Remove Your hand from Your chest, destroy them!

ASV: Why drawest thou back thy hand, even thy right hand? [Pluck it] out of thy bosom [and] consume [them].
