Psalms 81:1

AMP: Sing aloud to God our strength;Shout for joy to the God of Jacob (Israel).

ASV: Sing aloud unto God our strength: Make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

BSB: Sing for joy to God our strength;make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob.

Psalms 81:2

AMP: Raise a song, sound the timbrel,The sweet sounding lyre with the harp.

ASV: Raise a song, and bring hither the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the psaltery.

BSB: Lift up a song, strike the tambourine,play the sweet-sounding harp and lyre.

Psalms 81:3

Psalms 81:4

AMP: For this is a statute for Israel,An ordinance of the God of Jacob.

ASV: For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob.

DARBY: For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob;

Psalms 81:5

AMP: He established it for a testimony in JosephWhen He went throughout the land of Egypt.I heard the language [of One whom] I did not know, saying,

ASV: He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, When he went out over the land of Egypt, [Where] I heard a language that I knew not.

Psalms 81:6

AMP: ¶“I removed the burden from his shoulder;His hands were freed from the basket.

Psalms 81:7

AMP: “You called in [the time of] trouble and I rescued you;I answered you in the secret place of thunder;I tested you at the waters of Meribah. [Num 20:3, 13, 24] Selah.

ASV: Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah

Psalms 81:8

AMP: “Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you—O Israel, if you would listen to Me!

ASV: Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!

BSB: Hear, O My people, and I will warn you:O Israel, if only you would listen to Me!

Psalms 81:9

AMP: “Let there be no strange god among you,Nor shall you worship any foreign god.

ASV: There shall no strange god be in thee; Neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.

Psalms 81:10

AMP: “I am the Lord your God,Who brought you up from the land of Egypt.Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

ASV: I am Jehovah thy God, Who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Psalms 81:11

AMP: ¶“But My people would not listen to My voice,And Israel did not [consent to] obey Me.

ASV: But my people hearkened not to my voice; And Israel would none of me.

Psalms 81:12

ASV: So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels.

Psalms 81:13

AMP: “Oh, that My people would listen to Me,That Israel would walk in My ways!

ASV: Oh that my people would hearken unto me, That Israel would walk in my ways!

DARBY: Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, that Israel had walked in my ways!

DRA: So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions.

Psalms 81:14

AMP: “Then I would quickly subdue and humble their enemiesAnd turn My hand against their adversaries;

ASV: I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries.

BSB: how soon I would subdue their enemiesand turn My hand against their foes!

DARBY: I would soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

DRA: If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:

Psalms 81:15

AMP: Those who hate the Lord would pretend obedience to Him and cringe before Him,And their time of punishment would be forever.

ASV: The haters of Jehovah should submit themselves unto him: But their time should endure for ever.

BSB: Those who hate the LORD would feign obedience,and their doom would last forever.

DARBY: The haters of Jehovah would have come cringing unto him; but their time would have been for ever.

DRA: I should soon have humbled their enemies, and laid my hand on them that troubled them.

Psalms 81:16

AMP: “But I would feed Israel with the finest of the wheat;And with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

ASV: He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat; And with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee. Psalm 82 A Psalm of Asaph.

Psalms 81:17

DRA: And he fed them with the fat of wheat, and filled them with honey out of the rock.
