Psalms 81:1

ASV: Sing aloud unto God our strength: Make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

DARBY: {To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. [A Psalm] of Asaph.} Sing ye joyously unto God our strength, shout aloud unto the God of Jacob;

DRA: Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for Asaph himself.

Psalms 81:2

ASV: Raise a song, and bring hither the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the psaltery.

Psalms 81:3

ASV: Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast-day.

DRA: Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel: the pleasant psaltery with the harp.

KJV: Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Psalms 81:4

ASV: For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob.

DARBY: For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob;

DRA: Blow up the trumpet on the new moon, on the noted day of your solemnity.

KJV: For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

Psalms 81:5

ASV: He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, When he went out over the land of Egypt, [Where] I heard a language that I knew not.

DARBY: He ordained it in Joseph [for] a testimony, when he went forth over the land of Egypt, [where] I heard a language that I knew not.

DRA: For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob.

Psalms 81:6

ASV: I removed his shoulder from the burden: His hands were freed from the basket.

Psalms 81:7

ASV: Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah

Psalms 81:8

ASV: Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!

ASV: There shall no strange god be in thee; Neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.

Psalms 81:10

ASV: I am Jehovah thy God, Who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

DARBY: I am Jehovah thy God, that brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

DRA: there shall be no new god in thee: neither shalt thou adore a strange god.

KJV: I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

ASV: But my people hearkened not to my voice; And Israel would none of me.

Psalms 81:12

ASV: So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels.

Psalms 81:13

ASV: Oh that my people would hearken unto me, That Israel would walk in my ways!

DARBY: Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, that Israel had walked in my ways!

DRA: So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions.

KJV: Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

Psalms 81:14

ASV: I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries.

DARBY: I would soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

DRA: If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:

KJV: I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

Psalms 81:15

ASV: The haters of Jehovah should submit themselves unto him: But their time should endure for ever.

DARBY: The haters of Jehovah would have come cringing unto him; but their time would have been for ever.

DRA: I should soon have humbled their enemies, and laid my hand on them that troubled them.

KJV: The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

Psalms 81:16

ASV: He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat; And with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee. Psalm 82 A Psalm of Asaph.

DARBY: And he would have fed them with the finest of wheat; yea, with honey out of the rock would I have satisfied thee.

DRA: The enemies of the Lord have lied to him: and their time shall be for ever.
